Festivals, Tourism and Real Estate in Naga City

Naga city has a very rich culture and it is the venue for many exciting festivals all year long. It has been termed as the Bicol region’s cultural center. The largest festival held in the city (which is also one of the largest festivals in the whole region) is the Penafrancia Festival. The festival starts from the second Friday of each September. There is a huge grad feast throughout the whole festival in which traditional dishes ad cuisine are cooked and baked. The festival also consists of prayers carried out at festivals and cathedrals. Other things that happen at the festival include singing contests, street parties, exhibits, pageants, parades, concerts and various other activities.

Another notable festival is the Kamundagan festival which is celebrated annually during Christmas time. The first activity is the lighting of the grand Christmas tree which is situated in the Plaza Quezon Grandstand. After that six different colored parols are lighted. Each parol represents something unique; peace, progress, love, joy, prosperity and happiness. The lighting of the grand Christmas tree is done approximately two weeks before Christmas. A Christmas Bazaar is also held in the main marketplace where various christmas items and souvenirs are sold. Most of these items are locally made and hence this bazaar benefits local craftsmen financially. It is a time of opportunity for them.

Another notable festival is the Kinalas Festival. This festival is also celebrated annually around the time of the anniversary of the cityhood. One interesting event that occurs during this festival is a food eating contest. Other than that there are also many sports activities. The athletes that participate in these sports activities come from schools, universities and other institutions.

Naga City is well known for its tasty food and cuisine. Kinalas are a very famous local food. They are basically like noodles but longer. Pan de Naga is the local bread of the city and can combine with all sorts of food.
